Many young people struggle with reading and literary comprehension and those who love to read often do not have the resources to do so.
According to the acting Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Library Authority, Hayford Siaw, Ghana has only 61 public libraries to serve an entire population of 30 million.
According to UNESCO and the Center for Universal Education of Brookings: 21% of school children are not being taught how to read.
The poorest 20% of Ghanaians only receive 3.3 years of education. (pentopaperghana.com)
In order to salvage this canker, LoveAid Foundation has developed the Book-A-Rung initiative to create a sustainable community of young people whose capacities are built and enhanced in reading, writing, literature, communication, research, public speaking, logical reasoning and critical thinking in order to visualize quality, inclusive and equitable education as a means of achieving SDGs Goal 4 and the principle of leaving no one behind.
